Re: Fuel cap wont pop open

I don't know how similar the new ones are to my 2013, but when that was sticking, a dab of silicone grease on the catch helped. The biggest impact was by poking the release switch HARD, not just pressing it lightly.

Re: Considering Scooter or SuperMoto

If you're going to use freeways, the PCX is *not* a good choice. It's underpowered (yeah, you might get it up to 65 uphill with a tailwind), particularly for a heavy load. I'm 210lb and my 2013 struggles to keep 45-50mph on the one hill I encounter on my commute. And it's too light for interstate ru...

Re: How to make more keys?

That's exactly what I did: EBay and then the local locksmith or key shop (I'm in the US, by the way). The key blank should come with the little magnets which you stick into the appropriate holes to match your existing key.

Re: motorcycle/scooter lifts

I have one of these from Harbor Freight. It only lifts about 16-17", but that and a low stool makes oil changes, variator/belt work etc. fairly comfortable.

Re: PCX - restricting top speed

The top speed of the PCX is governed (68 mph? depending on the year), but changing that involved hacking the software in the ECU, which is a non-trivial task. A possible alternative would be to swap the variator ramp, but I doubt that an appropriate variator is commercially available, so you would h...

Re: New theme

I'm really not fond of the new theme, but I can (mostly) live with it. The biggest issue stems from the way I read the Forum: I go through and right-click open in new tab any unread topics of interest, then I click on "mark topics read". I can then peruse each topic in its own tab. The &qu...

My 2013 did the same thing. Turned out to be a weak (old) battery. New battery = all is good.

Can you both get on while the bike is on the center stand, and then "rock" it off? Of course, that begs the question of how you get off.

Re: New 2019 Honda 150 PCX

I've seen others post and share videos of bikes lifted on these, but wonder how to properly secure the PCX with one of these considering it's over-loaded with plastics everywhere. I'd feel better with a way to tie the handlebars and side bits to something rather than to under the bike. The lift goe...

Re: New 2019 Honda 150 PCX

You really don't *need* a lift to do maintenance, but it's nice to have the bike stable for things like wheel removal, brake work, etc. I have a $100 lift from Harbor Freight that works fine.

Re: Minor crash

Back in June I low-sided my Royal Enfield C5 under analogous circumstances (avoiding an oncoming car decided to turn left from a stop in front of me) at about 20 mph). The bike suffered only a bent footpeg and scraped crashbar, and I had gorgeous bruising from my groin to my tush, but no major damag...

Re: compact battery boosters

No reason why not. When it's hooked up, it's in parallel with the battery, which means that the starting amperage does not go *through* the battery. For the same reason, there would be no issue with hooking up a car battery -- so long as the car engine isn't running.

"wet and dry" is sandpaper that can be used for either wet or dry sanding. For example:

My 2013 has the same issue. I got it a couple of years ago and it spent it's first (damp, rainy, Northern California) winter in a tent. I ended up parking it in a warm sunny spot over a couple of days and the water dried up. It now lives in a solid motorcycle shed/garage, and I don't ride in the rai...

Re: Honda PCX 150cc 2017 Key Issue

Before doing anything, I would go to a good locksmith and ask if he can clean up the key a bit so that it goes in easily (I've had several keys over the years that just had a rough edge that caught in the lock). Then you have to decide if you can live with only one key (when I got my 2013 the PO had...

Re: Amp draw when starting

Or, for 50 bucks get a Li-ion jump start battery:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076V75SKW/
I got myself one as a Father's Day present (for use in the car, but it's certainly small enough that it would fit in the PCX), but haven't had a chance to use it (and, maybe, never will).
