Re: Cheap front stand; What're you using?

Maybe some kind of frame to go over the bike, then tie rope round and support the front end of the bike by the frame? With the prop under the rear to keep it from tipping backwards?

Re: Cheap front stand; What're you using?

The last time I changed both tires on my KLR I actually tied off the passenger grab rails to the framing on my over-sized shed to keep it level (port to starboard) and shoved something under the front forks just to give them something to rest on. The bike was literally "in the air" and it...

Cheap front stand; What're you using?

I got a quote for changing tires; $200 if I just bring in the bike. Half that if I bring in the wheels. Still high, but worth the effort to take the wheels off. The center stand balances the PCX with the rear wheel off the ground. I need something to hold up the front of the bike, so I can bring the...

Re: Do you hit the corners hard? Go around turns fast?

Great posts, Maverick. I like that Mick Doohan one, and you're spot on with the leaning. The one thing I would add is that if you're leaned over when you realize you're going too fast to make the turn, chances are that braking is going to immediately cause a crash. We're using up all our grip and le...

Re: Benefits Of Owning A Scooter...

Yes, there are very few disadvantages of owning and riding a scooter, especially one that can keep up with traffic...that is, as opposed to the 49cc scooters that can't even get up a steep incline and only impede traffic. Weather is one of the disadvantages, if it doesn't cooperate. Still, there ar...

It is not the cell phone that causes distraction, it is the selfish behavior of the user. Cell phones are not evil, any more than guns are evil or cars. (which "kill" more people than guns...)

Re: Clock on a 2013

The easiest way is to get an inexpensive Casio water resistant watch, remove the strap, and attach it with double stick tape where convenient. Clean the spot you want to attach it to with alcohol or window cleaner first. The watches are accurate and yoga can find them with solar or 10 treat batterie...

Great idea. I wonder if toy tried using the strap first?

You may have just spawned a new accessory market. This is better than hump bags in a few ways.

Drivers where he is are a LOT more courteous than where I am. I would have been cut off at least 5 times in the first minutes. Stuck up snobs, pretending they didn't see me. Checking the mirrors as I come to a stop is something I need to do more of. Riders get rear-ended a lot in my area; folks just...

Re: Engine Sputtering at High Speed

Mine does it at about 67 mph indicated. I was thinking it's a bad plug, but since it only happens above 63, I decided it's the rev limiter.

Thanks for sharing that. It's a lot less hectic than Taipei or Guangzhou. Lots of scooters there, so car drivers are more likely to look for you.

Re: Do you hit the corners hard? Go around turns fast?

I don't understand the what you are describing. Turns were marked 35 MPH? Do you mean the speed limit signs? No, the reduced speed signs for the turns. Speed limit was 45, I think. You weren't getting any lean at the speed limit so you did 20MPH over the speed limit to get lean? yes, at least for t...

It looks terrible. Doesn't match the paint. Contrasting black looks better.

Great ride! I'm envious! I was just down there a few weeks ago with the family in the Accord. Wished I was on my scooter instead.

Some of those hills I found were 2nd gear hills, even 1st in places, so you're doing fine to take them at 40 mph.

Re: Do you hit the corners hard? Go around turns fast?

I like to get my lean on in turns too. But I'm a lot more careful these days, since wrecking and breaking my leg in 3 places back in '09. Turns were marked 35 mph. I found that I was barely getting any lean at 35 or 40. 55 was more like it. But then, wouldn't you know it, there was a turn that reall...

Re: Tourmaster Draft Air 3 Jacket

I tried the liner, which is a wind/rain barrier only; no insulation. It works great for wind. My guess (experience) is that this will make the jacket good for down into the 50s (°F), without wearing a fleece underneath. On a warm day, it is good for ventilation with the Givi windscreen on the PCX. O...
