Re: Ideas for riding in cool weather, and looking good?

Thanks but anything over $20 is out of my price range at the moment. I am trying to piece together my wardrobe of choice as cheaply as possible. I found a cold weather base layer top at Sportsmen Warehouse in the clearance isle for $11. A nice thick cotton snap button shirt that wears like a jacket,...

Re: Ideas for riding in cool weather, and looking good?

What do you wear for your scooter jacket? I was looking for a windbreaker today, but I'm not paying $50 for a windbreaker.

Re: Ideas for riding in cool weather, and looking good?

thanks for your reply. I guess I will have to buy the Freeze-out product. I searched every major department store over the past two days for base clothing that adds warmth, and found nothing. Well I actually did find some in Kohl's. It was a product called Climate Smart, I think. But they had no lar...

Ideas for riding in cool weather, and looking good?

It is almost warm enough to ride here in Boise, Idaho. Today's high was in the upper 50s. I think 65 degrees is about where I think it is warm enough to ride. In the bicycling community, I am what's known as a "Fred". I don't wear professional attire, and just throw on a pair of cargo shor...

he should have avoided driving through the grass. The cops will see the trail to his house. I did consider gunning it when the cop lit me up. But then I decided against it.

Re: Got a speeding ticket on my PCX.

I noticed while scrolling though the replies there is a pic of a clusterfuck at the speedway, smoke and cars everywhere; presumably a demolition derby. Which begs the question, why is it on my thread about getting pulled over on my PCX? Is this how you assume I drive?

I'm just trying to be funny. It sounded funny in my head, at the time.

Re: Got a speeding ticket on my PCX.

I have already contacted the DOT and pleaded my case to not have my driver's license automatically suspended since I am a truck driver, and it would cause me untold problems. I wrote them a letter, and someone there called me back on the phone. He said, sorry, but there is nothing we can to do preve...

Re: Got a speeding ticket on my PCX.

I found that to be true on our bikes but as our speed moved closer to 60 mph the difference between real and indicated dropped. At 60 mph on both of our PCX150s they match the GPS reading on our phones. That being said, Pat, how fast WERE you going by your speedometer? Hmmm..... 55?? I wasn't looki...

Re: Reworking plastic seat tray?

I want to cut out my hump so that it is flush with the seat pan. I see yours isn't flush. I just need a couple more inches of saddle room because right now my tail bone bumps up against the hump. Just a little more room, and I can lay that "egg sitter" cushion flat.

Re: Reworking plastic seat tray?

Do you have a Home Depot or an ACE Hardware store near you? They sell the kit. As far as the aluminum, I am sure that at least Home Depot has the strips. Too bad there isn't an aircraft manufacturer near you. They throw away tons of aluminum... well, not really throw it away. They now recycle it, b...

Re: Reworking plastic seat tray?

thanks, Nadman. I was looking for the other pic you shared, the one without the aluminum strips on it. I can't find it now. I asked my neighbor to cut the hump out for me. He has lots of tools. I said I'd give him $20 if he'd do it for me. I wanted to see your hole again. You know, the hole in your ...

Re: Reworking plastic seat tray?

Like this. 1 inch aluminum flat bar and some pop rivets. That's really helpful to see what it looks like to have that hump removed. I was worried that cutting it out might severely weaken the integrity of the seat. It doesn't appear that it would, judging by your image, even without the aluminum ba...

Re: Got a speeding ticket on my PCX.

I was trying to save money by not getting insurance. It was industrial strength stupid, and now I am paying the price. I didn't think I would ever get pulled over on a scooter. I have two cars, and have always had insurance on them. I can't even recall the reason why I made this post. I guess just s...

Re: Reworking plastic seat tray?

Dremel or pad saw it out and pop rivet some alloy sheet in the void. that's what I'm talking about, thanks. I didn't know what language to use since I am not familiar with hand tools, etc. Do you know what kind of shop might do this rivot and alloy sheets you talked about? I know from experience, I...

Got a speeding ticket on my PCX.

I was doing 50 in a 45, and the cop did a u-turn in the middle of the road and came after me. But wait, it gets worse. Much worse. My insurance had expired less than 30 days ago. So I was cited for driving without insurance. This is a serious charge because in my state, your license is suspended if ...

Reworking plastic seat tray?

I have been enjoying my scooter since I have taken off the seat cover, and removed the foam. Doing so has expanded my saddle area. I sit on an "egg sitter" cushion, which is a gel pad. While this has improved my enjoyment, I still wish I could get that plastic hump off my tray. It bumps up...

Re: Do you use the foot wells?

You say that you want to go inward on your foot position but there is a major part of the frame just behind the plastic at that point. I have taken my PCX apart multiple times, and I have pictures to prove it. You would have to raise the foot area to get over the frame, which may cramp your ride ev...

Re: Do you use the foot wells?

I'm 6'3"+, and I test sit every scooter before buying. That's pretty basic procedure. (cars too, I skipped Toyotas and Hondas because of the pitifully small entry openings to driver's seat) I made them unbox my Piaggio Liberty far enough to sit the seat before I would commit to purchase. Man, ...

Re: Do you use the foot wells?

Thanks. I really don't think I would do it. I have very little tools, and even less patience for such a project. But maybe I could find someone to do it. As for Mel's idea, I was more interested in extending the footwell towards the inside. If only I had just a little more room for my big toe to sta...
