Re: Yamaha SMAX vs. PCX 150

I feel like the Burgman 200 should be considered, but I haven't actually sat on it yet. There are a lot of other smaller bikes that I want to go check out at the Suzuki dealership... Kymco K-Pipe, Kymco Spade, Suzuki VanVan 200, Burgman, etc. That 150cc Spade is listed for $2,500!! Don't think the K...

Re: Belt check

People say that the belt needs replacing at 5,000 to 10,000 miles or so for optimal efficiency. I only have a general idea how the belt works... And since it's a V-belt connected to the smooth variation and clutch drivefaces, I wonder if the belt must be checked at the outer edges instead of the spl...

Re: New specs electric PCX released!

I think it was Zero motorcycles that stated they could get a penny per mile. Gas is less than $1.80 where I live.... so if my clutch weren't slipping, I'd be getting like 1.5 cents per mile. And yes, when you factor in the cost of battery replacements, gas wins out for sure. Obviously the PCX electr...

Re: 2013 PCX 150 Cam Chain Tensioner Replacement

Thanks for this write up... and the pics, especially!! I took the cam chain tensioner out and wasn't paying attention to which way the yellow/green dot was supposed to go. Top Left it is!! Was about to install it backwards, and I'm not sure if that would've caused damage or not. But thanks anyway!! ...

Re: Hesitation/stutter off the line-the fix

All this time I thought I was getting bad gas and that's where the problem came from. For some reason, the stutter vanishes when I get a fresh tank of some primo ethanol-free stuff. But I'll definitely have to look into one of these options ASAP. I bought my scooter with only 300 miles on it, but it...

Re: Extra performance with large screen

It's obvious that a larger windshield would help when riding against the wind. The SMAX 155cc has a top speed of 80 mph, and I think that is somewhat attributable to the taller windshield. The PCX will hit that with the right variator "gearing", but you'll need to tuck with the wind. I can...

Re: Lifespan of Tires & Battery

No prob with my 2013 battery yet, even tho it was sitting up for 3 or 4 years before I picked it up.... The tires, on the other hand, have plenty of tread left for ~3,500 miles.... but I just recently noticed that my front tire has cracks all around, while the rear tire has none. Definitely need to ...

Re: PCX the USA from one end to the other anyone?

I concur with others... PCX is too squirrelly in the wind to be riding cross country. It's just too light for a cross country trip. Had nothing to do with comfort or died or anything else. It's safety first!!

Get a Burgman 200. Faster with more storage, and yet just as nimble.

Re: EFI and Non Ethanol Gas

Ethanol can absorb water, so it's good to use non-ethanol if not runing for several months I use Chevron 94 octane, which is overkill but the only gas we have without ethanol x3 !!! I notice my pcx running a little rough after it's sat up for just a few days while it was raining. I always pay the e...

Re: PCX vs Piaggio Medley review, now on SLUK

So I'm the only one that noticed the Piaggio's tires were on backwards?? That's not a good sign... You must have some eyesight to see the direction of rotation arrow on the sidewall in the review pictures... :) Who needs a sidewall arrow when uni-directional tread provides a "natural" arr...

Re: The Wave ...Obsolete ??

Around here, crotch rockets mostly wave by pointing to the ground. Harley riders mostly wave with a fist in the air. Scooter riders..... really don't have a wave. The problem is that there's so many people who ride bikes to/from my work that we've stopped waving for the most part. We'd have to take ...

Re: what are the differences between the 2015,16,17,18 model

I bought a used 2015 model with 1050 miles for $2200. The previous owner dropped it on the right side, which the dealership disclosed. Just some scuffs, nothing wrong with the drivetrain (knock on wood). I personally hate the way the PCX looks (too futuristic, too bug-like), BUT I didn't buy it for...

Re: Best trip average km/l or mpg

My best is ~90 mpg. Worst is somewhere over 70mpg. My throttle is always wide open. Sometimes I cut the wind, sometimes I lean back with my feet propped up like I'm on a cruiser. Just depends. I'm assuming if I were to upgrade the stock variators, rollers, etc.... then my mileage would only be worse.

Re: Do you hit the corners hard? Go around turns fast?

I tried leaning as much as possible one day, and I believe I experienced the back wheel hopping off the ground a few times. Needless to say, I straightened right up and don't really care for the thrill of almost sliding layers of skin off my body. Another day I was turning VERY SLOWLY in an intersec...

Re: What do you think about this price for new PCX150?

Thanks for your answers. I was able to get him to drop the freight and handling charges. So he will sell it to me for $3399 plus taxes, and registration (i.e. government stuff). The reason he came down is because their competition also has a 2017 PCX. And the competition quoted me a sale price of $...
