Sold the PCX thanks to the Netherlands

Hello everybody, I used to post on this forum after I got myself a PCX new in 2012. I liked the idea to just hop onto the scooter with ease and go wherever I needed without having to haul around hundreds of pounds of motorcycle. This was true from the start, however I was surprised how little I used...

Re: Wind damage...

I use this cover on my scooter: http://www.oxford-shop.co.uk/item3717.htm We had a hell of a stormy weather in the Netherlands for the last weeks and I can proudly report that the cover stayed on and the scooter stayed upright :-) That cover is very heavy and can be closed with a strap down under so...

Re: Fatter tyres after motorway scare

I think you always blame the machine. I have a shady history - when I lost my licence (after my stick on L plate peeled off for the third time due to salty spray in Blackpool, I responded by buying an RS250 single and escaping every time the police asked me to stop... I ran that until I saw a patch...

Re: Fatter tyres after motorway scare

This doesn't sound right. Your bike shouldn't be squirming like that on an emergency stop. Unless you're too close to the vehicle in front, and really panicking. I commuted 25 miles each way on the M5 for a few weeks on my 110 Vision, while waiting for my Forza. It was adequate. I got into the knac...

In principle, yes. But a fat well engineered tyre is still better at it then a rubbish narrow one.

and come to a stop just an inch from the car's bumper. DJCAT, Maybe your problem was fixation? A PCX only needs about 1/2 car's width you could have ridden down the inside of the car in front? Instead of avoidance you chose fixation ? Just asking. No, it wasn´t. No, I couldn´t. And avoidance is wor...

Re: Fatter tyres after motorway scare

Braking can be improved by working on the brakes. Good tires help to keep traction though. I'm running 110/80 at the front and 120/80 heidenau k66s at the rear and they are significantly better than stock. ... The rear fits without any issue, on the front I had to shave the "hair" from th...

Re: Tires and Grip PCX 125

Hi, I commute daily to downtown Lisbon and historical downtown Lisbon streets are cobblestone streets riddled with bumps, sewage covers and tram tracks. Ridding in these conditions is really hazardous, not to mention nerve-racking, specially with wet pavement. I'm thinking of changing tires to deal...

Re: Monetization

I consider ads visual pollution, but nothing is free in life...

My question is the other way around: Would you still be enjoying this site if you would run it as a side business? Would the how to section and product recommendations still be our own experience and not influenced by some vendor?

Re: Why are motorcycles relegated to less light than cars?

It was not a momentary dazzle, I sat in the passenger seat when it happened. The fact that illegal HIDs dazzle other road users and effectively put their lives at risk doesn't get better just because you are upset. Headlights are a matter of regulation for a reason, if you want to increase your con...

Re: Why are motorcycles relegated to less light than cars?

We have also heard of your wife's momentary dazzle by some tuner car kid's crappy blue ebay hid conversion. That doesn't mean all lighting improvements will be unacceptable. I'm also glad that you feel comfortable with the lighting on your "proper bike". To say that none of my bikes are &...

Takegawa variator and Heidenau tyres

Posting my experience here with recent modifications as per topic. Takegawa variator gave it much more acceleration and put a smile on my face on country roads and through the city, up to 60mph nothing can beat it (except a proper bike :P). In an attempt to find its new top speed and see if it makes...

Re: Why are motorcycles relegated to less light than cars?

How do you figure? I have the following: 2007 Ninja650, 2009 Ninja250, 2011 CBR250R, 2013 PCX150. Do any of these qualify me to comment on the subject of headlights? [/quote] Well, as far as I can see all those bikes weren't made for year round riding, they were made for Sunday riding by people tha...

Re: Why are motorcycles relegated to less light than cars?

How do you figure? I ride bikes and drive cars. Cheap cars have two times 55 Watt low beams and two times 60 Watt high beams. Bikes have one times 55 Watt low beams and one times 60 Watt high beams. Nice cars have two times 55 Watt HID bi-zenon. The PCX has the best headlights of any bike I have wi...

Re: Flat new bike tyre after fitting

It was the valve stem, although new from outside it must have broke when refitting. Quite scary if such a sudden total loss of pressure would have happened at speed... I am very pleased with the change of tyres, the scooter is much less nervous and the braking power is now out of this world! I attri...

Re: Flat new bike tyre after fitting

Thanks for your reply. I meant one of them emergency pushbike pumps for small valves... I used a neighbours pump to fill the tyre up yesterday and the next day it was flat. Used it again this morning to push the scooter to the mechanic and when I got there the tyre was flat again...the guy was in a ...

Re: Why are motorcycles relegated to less light than cars?

Motorbikes do not have less light then cars and if you have a bike that does, its headlight is just rubbish. Adding light clutter such as caused by illegal HIDs and running high beam at day does cause glare at other road users and accidents and is a potential cause for road rage incidents. A good lo...

Flat new bike tyre after fitting

So....finally I had my fatter Heidenaus fitted this Friday, rode it home (about 200 yards from the shop!) and wanted to use the scooter this morning just to find the front tyre gone flat! Didn´t use it at all this weekend and really rode just around the corner, I can´t see any damage to the tyre eit...

Re: why I wear a helmet ALWAYS

Happy you made the right choice mate, bones can mend but if a head injury mends its just pure luck. I spent some time in the US as an exchange student and remember how funny it was for me to see people riding at high speeds without any head protection. After all I had lived all my life in places whe...
