Re: How to remove the rear wheel in 6 minutes (video)
So I gave it a try this morning, with, I thought, every tool at-the-ready... only to have to run to the toolbox for a missing one (a 14mm wrench needed to get the lower/ front swing arm bolt out -couldn't reach it with the impact gun). Result : took me 3 minutes flat. The rear brakes pads were 80% d...

Re: Tuning the Forza 300 CVT
Don't know bout that. With 18 gram sliders I'm 8500rpm at 145kph. What's your rpm at 145kph indicated? Wow, great results. I once did 140 kmh with mine, but was too busy keeping it on the road to notice the revs. More relevant would be RELIABILITY. Last time I had a look at its totally stock setup,...

Re: Tuning the Forza 300 CVT
I'm not sure I can understand your second sentence. The physics of CVT transmission of power
are indeed complicated...but well understood by the engineers that design them, and end up
with setups that are better left alone, as shown by some revealing photos, right here my dear.

Re: Tuning the Forza 300 CVT
Problem is, there's only one (trans-mission) speed to play with on a CVT scooter. You let it rev more freely at low vehicule speeds, and voilà it overrevs at high speeds (since it was normally built to reach top revs at reacheable top speed). I wouldn't fool around with these, just make sure they're...

Re: Changing antifreeze and brake fluid
Antifreeze. It'll just be fine as long as it's topped up to the correct levels and the temperatures aren't at either end of the spectrum extreme. Brake fluid will be fine too. If it gets dark, not discoloured then change it straightaway. If you maintain your bike regularly. Then an easy thing to do...

Re: How to remove the rear wheel in 6 minutes (video)
I had to plug the rear one, too. Didn't leak for 5,000km, using the cheap plug kit sold at Canadian Tire here. The trick is to (generously) treat the hole with rubber cement before introducing the plug, then let it dry a while before having a go. BTW, removing the wheel can be done in less than 3 mi...

Re: Recall letter number five...?
I checked mine's 13,000km-old fuel pump for pressure and flow, right before it was recalled, and it was 100% ok: 42 psi and 110 cc per 10 secs. Nothing to whine about, poor me. Maybe there was an ethanol-related concern from Honda? (I stay away from the crap). My only (minor) complaint is with the r...

Re: Why do I get better MPG when it is hot?
...so looks like best POWER is with warmed up engine + moderately cold intake air (the IAT sensor then adjusts the injector opening duration proper to the denser cold air). But best MPG is with moderately hotter, less dense intake air, requiring less fuel. The difference in power can hardly be felt ...

'Demeanour' sounds a bit imperial to my taste. Metric would be 'behavior'. But poets
don't give a damn, isn't it.

Chicaboo darling,
One tenth of a mm equals the depth of your knowledge. I have trouble figuring out .01mm, but
not .004". Get it?

Re: Why do I get better MPG when it is hot?
Our generation was imperial-impregnated, no way one can get out of this. I still adjust valves using
thousandths of an inch, was never quite able to grasp them fractions of mm. I have friends who
pretend to, think they're lying to my face.
Soon enough, nobody will remember them imperials, though.

Re: Why do I get better MPG when it is hot?
I also use km/l, stopped using mpg when I discovered it showed 'low' US numbers hahaha. Our latitudes may be more or less the same, but not the microclimates. Here I think is generally rather colder, mostly in the mornings. I have moved thrice in the last few years (the Hell's Angels are after me, s...

Re: Why do I get better MPG when it is hot?
Confirmation today : 8hAM, 17deg.C outside temperature. So I reset trip A, and voilà, dash
shows 30km/l (85 mpgCan,/68 US). Not bad for skidooland stop 'n go.
Curiously, my 2014 shows mpg US, not Canadian as it should...may be an american leftover !?
(the rebate was $2,000, so you bet I won't whine)

Re: Why do I get better MPG when it is hot?
This is turning to METAPHYSICS, or what! The IAT, ECT, TPS & MAP sensors all do their jobs well regardless of the environmental conditions, but the root cause for higher fuel consumption on colder days is increased air density requiring more fuel. I've not ever seen one beyond standard cold sta...

Re: Why do I get better MPG when it is hot?
The ECU relies on two Temp. sensors to determine injector opening duration (in nanoseconds) : (a) the Engine Cooling Temp. sensor,(b) the Intake Air Temp. sensor. On cold days, even with the engine warmed up, cold air will still make the ECU provide a rather rich mixture, based on sensor (b) data. O...
