Re: Parking - Should center stand/parking brake always be us

Is there a reason that center stand should be used over side stand on this scooter in particular? Most of the stuff I read on other motorcycle/scooter forums, the general consensus seems to be to use the side stand. Scooters in general. On a conventional motorcycle, you can park it in gear and it w...

Re: Anti thief recommendations

I don't worry about it and just park in a well lit area with a decent footfall. Its worked for over 40 years. THIS. It's hard enough to SELL one of these things, at deeply-reduced prices. Seriously...fifty-percent depreciation with 1300 miles on it? Sure, there are some...individuals...who will sna...

Yep.

A trickle-charger with a quick-disconnect, is a worthwhile setup - if there's a place to plug it in.

Re: Strange noise from my pcx 150

Mechanical products have all kinds of noise. Robert Pirsig, in his tome, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance , spoke of the noise that eminated from his bike, a Honda Hawk 305 (amusingly, a mid-sized bike for the time, 1968). He called it "Nickel-and-Dime sound" - "...like there...

Re: OOPS!....overtorquing...

I did back it out about three turns, and then set it in with the torque wrench set to 15 ft-lb. It did go in and did hold. I didn't think to take it all the way out. I did note it wasn't fighting my fingers screwing out or back in. Well, it'll hold until the next oil change, anyway. Then I'll have t...

Re: bunny collision - broken body panels

Ten years ago, I had a Burgman 400...and incredibly, I had decided to tour with it. It didn't end well, but because I had abused it riding across Michigan. Hot day, that 400 had power to spare...I was riding, fully loaded with gear, at over 90 mph for two hours in 98F heat. That was another story an...

Re: OOPS!....overtorquing...

Is it leaking then? I have a torque wrench, a fairly expensive one as many are so far out you may as well not bother (my calibration sticker shows almost spot on throughout it's length) and I have never used it! I've changed the oil three times now (the last a few months back as done over 15,000 mi...

OOPS!....overtorquing...

Oil change time. Generally I'm religious about looking for torque values. But in the past year, I've had five bikes: V-Strom 650, Silver Wing GL500, Versys 650, and now, my new toy, a PC800. In addition to my PCX125 and the new-to-me 150. I'd only changed the 125's oil once; and I'd forgotten the to...

Re: New Honda Monkey 125

CVT means power losses. The clutch-lever-less transmission on underbones is possibly the best of both worlds. I owned a Kawasaki Z125 Pro for a short period of time. GREAT chassis. But the riding position is pure monkeybike; and the engine...well, the PCX125, which I had at the same time, had the s...

Re: That's not my cat! Nor my fear.

As of July 1st it is illegal to have a cellphone in your hand while driving. Keeping that in mind, I was out riding in our area a couple of days ago and every other driver had a cellphone in their hands! Part of my riding takes me by the local police precinct. The percent of drivers with cellphones...

Re: That's not my cat! Nor my fear.

While we are "off topic" I mistrust my ability to do night riding like I used to. With the onslaught of the growing world population and the wave after wave of oncoming headlights on popular roads I find that my eyes can't adjust as easily as they could years ago when the roads were less ...

Re: Parking - Should center stand/parking brake always be us

For the early models (2011, 2012?), only use the center stand if you absolutely must as there was a design defect in the mount. There is a weak spot and using the center stand could cause the motor block to crack. There are other references to this on the forum. I think that was only in cases of hi...

Re: New Honda Monkey 125

I'm thinking again....strip the cladding off the PCX...put a headlight on it...maybe some frame mods to make it less hideous and put a moto saddle on it...and it should be okay in your carrier...ya think? Sounds a bit like one of those Kymco Motorcycles. . .. 8) https://www.kymcousa.com/product-cat...

I'm just about to buy myself a new Honda Monkey . . . based on the Grom . . . http://www.vwaction.com/brian/MONKEY125.jpg https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-Monkey-bike/202346077667 (Not to replace the PCX as such, I just need something a little easier to lift/roll on to the back of my RV - the PCX g...

Re: Insurance says they're going to total the scoot

What is meant by that is to install the engine out the PCX in a Honda Ruckus. I've often wondered about that. With that 125 I had...I thought, if it didn't sell, I'd just mothball it, and look for a Big Ruckus frame. Which should be easy to find - not from a real Big Ruckus, but from that Chinese c...

Re: New PCX 1 Month use review

Update: The new PCX has a service indicator (Oil Change) Icon what appears when you pass when you need your next service. That appears  Well, consider. Most new PCX buyers (buyers of New PCXs; as opposed to savvy prospects buying used for pennies on the dollar) are new to the world of motorcy...

Re: pcx 125 not starting at all

If I don't give mine a little gas it sputter but won't catch. Still, even if it does not catch it should give an indication that it wants to start. I haven't gone outside and tested it, but does anyone know if you would even get the fuel pump online IF your side Stand is down? I am thinking that th...

Higher octane is only necessary in high compression engines mostly found in high performance motors .Because of high compression ratio anti knock additives are required hence high octane. They have higher anti knock additives not more power. The Honda scooter engines are not high performance requirin...

Re: New PCX 1 Month use review

I don't know if you have the model that has the different size tires from previous models but if so they could cause an error in your speedometer. My 2013 PCX 150 model speedometer is off about 10% until I reach 45 mph. Then the error starts dropping and is right on the money at 75 mph now (GPS che...

Even in a car, driving those hills with stop signs every so often, with a manual transmission...no fun and no joke.
