Re: New PCX Rider
You made a nice choice - and a wise choice, for SF. I lived out that way two years, in the Navy...beautiful city (before its current issues) but the hills, with stop signs halfway up/halfway down...made driving in town a terror, for me with my VW Vanagon camper with manual shift. As a new owner of a...

Re: DO you really dislike shifting?
I have had both - scooters (including a touring scoot, the Burgman 650) and bikes. With only the B650, I missed the control that shifting gave me. Mostly when on the open road - and I did a cross-country with that beast. With cycles...in traffic...I get tired and annoyed. Lights and traffic snarls a...

Re: Ford classics on my scooter ride today...
The T Bird was a great car until it became too big. It took Ford quite awhile to realize that you buy a sporty looking car because it is sporty looking, not because you want a family T-Bird. The same went for the Mustang. The 1971 Mustang was a truck with no rear view. I had multiple Mustangs and t...

The frame seems a bit rusty for three years old.

Great link.
Great source, too. I see seats, shocks, and adjustable handlebars; and I just started.
Budget issues is all that's keeping me from burning up the order lines.
Next month I should be better off...

What's the seat there?
I'm getting tired of sitting on that padding-free zone where the butt-stop went. And with my height, that's where I wind up.

Re: Ford classics on my scooter ride today...
When I had my '72 Super Beetle I had to rebuild it from top to bottom, but I did, and my youngest daughter loved riding in it, just like her oldest sister did in 1971 when she was that young and I had a 67 Beetle. I have had three Beetles and have enjoyed all of them. I even love the new ones, and ...

No pics of the Beetle?
That was my first car - a 1972 Super Beetle. Great, but had issues, pertaining to a rear-end accident and a broken engine block from it. And the replacement engine out of a boneyard was a POS. So it went away.

I use ear buds with hooks over the ear. If I'm on the PCX and have my scooter helmet on (a dirtbike helmet, no face shield) I'm fine, up to about 50 mph. The engine is quiet, of course. On my Kawasaki with the snug-fitting Bell helmet, with full-face drop-down shield...and the scream of that 180-deg...

Re: Comparison to other scooters
It seems demand for scooters is at some sort of record low. On CycleTrader, I've seen NOS PCXs in the $2200 range. Now sure the dealer will try all kinds of add-on charges, but he would anyway. From $3200 to $2200 is a deep discount. I bought my 150, a BETTER scoot, for LESS than I paid for the 125....

Re: Pizza Carrier Rack?
I got the Givi arms that are to anchor a trunk platform; and then bolted in a milk crate. I have the generic net, zip-lock tied to it at one end - use hooks to hold it pulled over. I can set a pizza box on top of the milk crate (four gallon size crate) and stretch the net over, and even though the p...

Re: Backrest for PCX150
That is the problem. It isn't a BIGGER SCOOTER. There isn't much demand for a backrest on little scooters. It can be done, but it looks like you will have to draw up the plans and have an upholstery shop do it for you. I have ideas, but probably will never do anything about them. Imagine an inflata...

Re: Now that is rude!!
I'm not worrying about "pollution." The Earth is pretty durable - it endured all the volcanoes that built Hawaii, Japan, the American West, etc. Krakatoa was a thousand-times more polluting than all the diesel trucks in the world, ever. The problem is when these idiots, who spend a high fi...

SUV, perfect for hauling insecurities. Yup. It's an emotional thing...and often tied to other insecurities, about the size of private parts, etc. And not just SUVs. Here in my world, where there's money but - in the county - not much space, since California expatriats with their land-use ideas have...

Re: I want to know how to strap a bike to a trailer
Easy. Two ratchet straps one on each handle bar mounted to the trailer. This. I have trailered bikes innumerable times. First off...some ground rules. I don't do it the way some others do; but I will NOT get in a flame war over this. Your money, your choice. I have my reasons and logic behind them....

Re: Wheels out of balance?
There's a way of balancing it without removing the wheel. Do a search for "Dynabeads" That may be the best way. I see a RideApart review, where he identifies their pluses and minuses. They apparently, because of their nature, work fine on motorcycle tires - the important balance factor is...

Don't you have to get the tire off the rim, to get those beads in there?

Re: Wheels out of balance?
Tire pressure is as specified. The rear tire vibrates - that's been demonstrated by spinning it on the center stand. That's not to say the front tire is not ALSO out of balance, but it's a good place to start. Since I know there's something going on with the rear, I'm not going to solve everything b...

Re: Gear and Putzing Around Town
Seeking input. I am coming from a motorcycle perspective where even in 90 degree weather I was biker jacket, gloves, and a full face helmet. But with the scooter I won't be hitting suicide speeds, was thinking when the time comes to just get bucket helmet, maybe goggles to go over my glasses and gl...
