Thats a really good last resort option. I think I might do that. I'd like to know if other people have done that with success though.

Re: So I completely screwed up and stripped the oil bolt hou

So, the place I took it to said that the chunk that came off on the crankcase was too big for a helicoil, and that he'd have to rebuild it. He said the right crankcase would cost 89 dollars, but that labor would cost 1200. Looks like I'm pretty screwed. I asked him if there was a chance that they co...

Re: So I completely screwed up and stripped the oil bolt hou

Thanks for all the kind words lol! I just graduated with a degree in biology, so I've been patting myself on the back for being smarter than I thought, and then this happens! I've never before felt so stupid than this morning! Nice to hear it's happened to so many other people, and was just mistake ...

Re: So I completely screwed up and stripped the oil bolt hou

I stripped it, and broke a piece of the housing off of the oil bolt housing. How large is the piece that was broken off, is the threaded hole just stripped, or is part of it actually broken off? If it can be tapped & a larger plug / bolt can be secured to seal it, then you can leave it as is an...

Re: So I completely screwed up and stripped the oil bolt hou

R crankcase is priced at @$75 if it cannot be repaired. Friend of mine used a cheap torque wrench to snug the 2 exhaust nuts to the head - heard no 'click' so started stripping the studs out! Stuff happens.....especially when we're a bit preoccupied. Fish Good to hear, I thought I was gonna have to...

So I completely screwed up and stripped the oil bolt housing

So I woke up this morning in a bad mood because of some personal issues that I've been dealing with, so I thought changing the oil might help me relax. It was actually long overdue  So I go to do it, all while ruminating over my issues, and when I was cranking what I thought was counterclockwi...

**Update** A short string of bad luck.....

This is an update to my original post: http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8161 It has been about a couple of weeks since I was in the accident and saw the insurance adjustor, who was actually really weird, and took pictures and talked to me in a rushed way and was literally in and out i...

Re: A short string of bad luck...

@TheMaverick, thanks that makes sense that it would be legal in my case. The insurance guy just said that they weren't sure if they'd take full responsibility, or what percentage they'd take and that they'd get back to me. That made me wonder if they thought what I did was illegal. @alx123 thanks fo...

A short string of bad luck...

2 weeks ago, I was in a single lane in a 2-way road on my way to my university (Cal Poly Pomona), when I was stopped dead in traffic. It was the first day of fall quarter so traffic into school was from 0 to 5 mph. I decided to "share the lane" to pass cars on their left--which is legal in...

Re: Helmet Hook

I use my helmet hook. I have a disk lock, and a U-lock that's on my rear tire, a motorcycle cover, an alarm installed AND I lock the steering wheel. Needless to say, all of this takes a ton of time every day before leaving somewhere, and every day I get home I have to put everything back on. I live ...

Re: Rant about maintenance costs

@Mel46, yeah when I was 16, my friend told me that he knew how to change alternators and that he could switch mine out of my 1969 VW bug. After literally trying to yank it out of it for a couple hours, we decided to put it off for the next day. We took this cap thing off of the motor and it was spri...

Rant about maintenance costs

I took my scooter for its first service about 600 miles ago and i just saw yesterday that my oil wasn't even registering on the dipstick. granted I use it often and on the freeway, but i never really go past 55 mph. I also will never really ride past 20 miles per day. Anyways, the coolant reservoir ...

Re: haggling suggestions for pcx 150

Fish, thanks for the shocks advice as well as the other tips. So far I'm good and know I still have to focus on learning how to ride better. I still haven't taken a safety class but plan to.
Thanks for the heads up about the horn kramnala. Good points.
