Re: Repainting helmet?

I won't bother if even water-based paints are up to chance, as I'd have to seal it with something that would likely be just as bad as the paints. It's a pity, but I'm glad I asked.

Can anyone answer my question about the DOT sticker? Who is that there for?

Re: Repainting helmet?

Thanks for the quick answers-

Why does it being Lexan polycarbonate matter?

EDIT: I just read that the fear is solvents in the paint might damage the polycarbonate. If that's what you were meaning then never mind.

Repainting helmet?

I love my Nolan N43, but I wasn't able to get it in the color I want. I want one with a lot of white for higher visibility, but mine is pretty dark. Also, the paint on mine got scratched up a bit due to a little carelessness when I first got it (no accident impacts or anything like that, just scuffs...

Re: PCX Cup Holder

I ended up buying some cheap car cup holder/organizer device at my local target, chopping off everything that doesn't hold cups, and then using a 3M mounting strip to put it inside my topbox. It's like a stronger-than-velcro set of interlocking plastic pegs with knobs on the ends. It's really strong...

Re: Not trying to Ruffle feathers, but...

Personally, I like the content of this site. It's nice to have a site with such a high signal to noise ratio, where any time there is an update or a new thread I can pretty quickly see if it's of interest to me and I don't have to wade through a slew of off-topic posts just to get at the real meat o...

I expect your bike to lay eggs that hatch face-huggers. By which I mean it looks cool.

Re: How NOT to dress when going for a ride

What's wrong with how he's dressed, apart from a lack of gloves? Hell, out where I'm at he's dressed like a paragon of safety compared to most riders. Most undergraduates out here wear shorts/t-shirt/sunglasses (no helmet) any time the weather permits, because if they're going to sit on their Ninjas...

Re: key stolen

I'm sure it's far less than the cost of re-keying (not that re-keying is a bad idea). My motorcycle shop has a lot of absurdly expensive locks with features like GPS alarms built into them that cost over $100, but if you go to any store that sells bicycles you should be able to get a decent heavy ch...

Re: to AVOID on the road

Oh my, your brother doesn't sound like the brightest bulb in the box. He's not so bad as all that, let's just say he's had lots of opportunities for "applied learning". Should maybe be nominated for one of these. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darwin_Awards ;) Wow, this got dark in a ...

Suicidal rabbits running about the road. Or as my brother learned, avoid popping wheelies without a helmet at night and then falling off your bike and getting injured and then after the fact claiming the reason you fell off your bike was became of a suicidal rabbit running about the road in order t...

Re: Hello all! New PCX owner with couple of questions! :)

I also park my scooter at an apartment, though I do at least have a bike rack to chain it to. Most important is to get insurance. Half the reason I got a scooter is the insurance is so cheap. Next I have a bike lock for each wheel. Back gets the chain that loops to the bike rack. Front gets a U-Bar ...

I've been warned to avoid extra lighting as supposedly it plays havoc with the electrical system. Is that true?

Re: What sort of mileage are you guys at??

Nearing 1000, bought it in July and am mainly using it for very short distance commuting. It's my only motorized vehicle, so I intend to use it as long as there's no snow or ice on the road.

Re: If anyone can answer this, it's probably you guys!!!

Mine does this, but only when the engine is cold. If I let it idle a bit in the cool mornings we've had lately (usually it only takes as long as I need to put on my helmet and gloves and roll unpowered out of my parking spot) then by the time I need to accelerate the vibrations are minimal or gone. ...

Do all top box mounts and top boxes play nice together?

My dealer is bringing in for me a Honda mount for my PCX. It was from the Honda catelog but I've never seen it before on the Internet. It looks like welded bars in a grid-like shape rather than the hard plastic "tail" I've seen from Givi, etc. I like the bars (I was a little worried about ...

Re: What would you change on the PCX

A clock would be nice. As would a stock top-box mount. At the risk of sounding like an utter yank, I'd like a cup-holder somewhere. Not to drink while on the scooter of course, but sometimes in the summer heat it would be nice to pick up a cold beverage or shake or something and then scoot down to t...

Sizing helmets online

Hi all, I'm very new to this scooter thing. I bought a Scorpion EXO 400 helmet to start out with and almost immediately wished I'd bought a high-end helmet. I'm seeing a lot of decent-looking Nolan helmets online and I think they would about fit the bill. How does one ensure that the fit is right on...

Anyone know about scooting in Japan?

I used to live in a few different Japanese cities, but I was always part of the bicycle/train/bus set. Now that I'm back in the states and riding my PCX150 it feels like it would have been perfect for navigating Japanese cities... aside from the high cost of getting a driver's license (since I'm Ame...
