Re: Battery power , accessory voltage??How much charging out
My battery is about 4 yrs old and is tiring , but when I am running it shows about 14.5 so there is ample voltage for accessories FYI. This is hard wired off the ignition so it only is on when the ignition key is turned on.Works nicely and fits in the dash nice too.

Re: Headlight High beam off or on during daylight hours only
Personally, I never got blinded by high beams during the daytime. Only at night do they present a problem and mainly on two lane undivided highways. I think its a good idea to keep that bike as visible as possible and to those that find a bright headlight from a passing motorbike annoying (during da...

Headlight High beam off or on during daylight hours only
In light of extra safety and visibility is it better to run with the headlights in brightest and highest setting? I live in an area where there is a lot of retired folks and thinking what could be bad about using a high beam during the daytime . I really hate it when people jut out in front of me ma...

The first one is important. I found my valve lash both in and exh on the tight side after 1000 miles. Almost zero lash .. Had significant valve" wear in" I suppose ..Even at zero lash engine ran fine, no stalling, plenty of power.

Re: Little undecided on a windscreen
For me the Tall National works great. Not perfect but much better than the smaller ones. I do find that I will get a sway or sail affect if a cross wind is encountered. However I am a big target at 5'11 so I can attribute that to me and the shield together. Both of us make a big target on a low bike...

Re: Scooter fatality
Good point Mel..I agree.. You are right, our roads are becoming more and more thoroughfares rather than scenic drives anymore. Getting harder to find for sure. Too many folks and not enough roads. We do have a population explosion going on and nobody paying attention to it. Wait , pretty soon there w...

Re: Scooter fatality
Lets face it, you put yourself out there on any motorcycle or bike and you are highly at risk of injury. Especially in dense traffic commutes or on high speed highways. Motorcycles in general should be driven on pleasure roads where you don't compete with cars or trucks regularly. I know they are he...

Re: Valve adjustment.. How necessary ??
Did it at 1000 miles and found both intake and exhaust valves tight. I guess initial" wear in" dropped the gap to zero. However my engine was running fine . Set lash correctly and still running fine.. very forgiving motor.

Re: Scooter fatality
I understand that the newer larger pickup trucks like Ram are putting front bumper cameras on their vehicles so the driver can see directly in front and below the hood. A great idea..hope the tractor trailer and commercial trucks do likewise. Now lets hope the driver checks it out.

Re: Valve adjustment.. How necessary ??
Theres a thread around here about someone's bike stalling at lights until it was warmed up. Turned out be valves too tight. Definitely worth checking a couple times to at least see if theres a trend. Valves and seats wear. Some more than others. After only 500 miles ??wow Todays hardened valve seat...

Valve adjustment.. How necessary ??
After 500 miles is it really necessary.. I suppose that after a break in period the wear will change tolerances by virtue of logic.. However, I have yet to see in my experience valves go out of tolerance or where it measured a significant amount of change in gap. With today's oil and factory machinin...

Texting /emailing ?? They say he was not however at this point in the investigation. That is a problem in today's world.. Smart phones only add to the hazards of motorcycling. I suppose he will be facing manslaughter charges anyway and a huge settlement to the family. Story says he was turning his h...

Re: Honda Parts - where ?
Thanks for all the comments.. I noticed in one case shipping was cheaper from Thailand to Florida (USA) than it was from I think Kansas.. I haven't checked them all but Thailand (biker bits etc) seems to do best in genuine Honda parts pricing. If you have the time to wait that is..I think a HONDA dr...

Re: GLP variator thumbs up or down
I agree Honda has done all the engineering and knows what is best for its product. I hear that some say sliders work better and so on.. but laws of physics alone will tell you that a rolling dynamic creates less friction than a sliding one. If sliding was so great all trailers would have skids in li...

Re: NCY variator and rollers
Appreciate all the responses ..looking forward to hearing about definitive results. I also read somewhere (I think) that after the first 1000 miles you should replace the originals. I think the original factory set is 15 gm?? But 1000 miles..Seems like a little overkill ???
