Re: I'm new in here!
Perhaps America should consider changing to the left? I had a think about it and I suspect that it wouldn't be as bad as you might think if they did it in stages starting with, say, trucks and busses for the first year

Re: Finally changed spark plug at 34,000km
Very nice bougie at 34K. I'm just curious about the valves, though. How many adjustments? - by Honda's schedule, a whole lot of them... As I checked them on my Forza at 14,000km, the exhausts were .001" tight, so I went with the next thinner shims. Now at 26,000 km...and they are .001" LO...

For sure. No honour in being "dead right".gn2 wrote:Doesn't matter who is in the right or wrong ultimately its up to the rider to look after number one.

Re: Finally changed spark plug at 34,000km
I thought about it, but they don't cost a lot and I'm trying to "zero time" a number of components that I can now forget about until 67,000km.gn2 wrote:Probably won't see any difference.
I would give the outer electrode a tweak and stick it back in.

Finally changed spark plug at 34,000km
Book says to change every 8,000km, but that just didn't make any sense to me when car plugs are good for 100,000km+. Finally changed it after 34,000km - was still going just fine but I didn't want to push my luck forever. Gap had opened up from the recommended 0.8 to 0.9mm recommended range to exact...

Just the way we like it!gn2 wrote:Once its run in if you use fully synthetic oil the internal component wear reduces to about nil.iceman wrote:Still find it amazing how one little piston copes and lasts the way it does (and the seals with it) - amazing.

those same statistics indicate that we're at fault (or could have directly influenced the outcome of our accidents) at least 64 times out of every 100 accidents that we had. That's a surprise, I would have guessed higher than 64% Personally, I draw a distinction between "legally at fault"...

@SlowPoke Thanks for that. I think that in general, motorcycle safety is one of those dynamics where "only 5% are really pro-active about safety" but "95% think that they belong to that 5%". We hear things like "you don't have to worry about me - I've been riding for 40 year...

Official 2016 Motorcycle Accident breakdown analysis for NZ
I discovered some interesting New Zealand 2016 motorcycle crash statistics and did a quick write-up about it on my motorcycle safety blog this morning: https://www.facebook.com/MotorcycleTipsandTrickstoStayAlive/ Motorcyclists fare poorly in crash statistics, and yet those same statistics indicate t...

Re: Pampered Generation...
The company I retired from was looking at hiring some young engineers straight out of college. Because there are so few college graduates in engineering they could just about write their own tickets. Our company called an all hands meeting to inform us that we would have to allow for some inconsist...

I love the millennial story that my lawyer buddy told me. Last summer he was interviewing for a new paralegal, and interviewed several millennial‘s. After interviewing one guy right out of college, two hours later he got a call from the kid’s mother, claiming that “he needs another chance, he didn’...

Re: How many miles do you expect out of your PCX?
I had 24,070 (in 2.5 years of driving) on my 2015 PCX this morning. I put about 1,300 miles a month on my scooter, and it holds up nicely for the heavy workload I require of it! Nice to fine someone doing more than me - I've clocked up 34,000km in 2.5 years. With the exception of the known rear dri...

Ride on the left here. Ah! Then you'd need a right-hand drive bike the, right?   Thinking about the "drive on the left" -v- "drive on the right" thing - how nice it would have been if the entire world had just agreed to one side or the other (don't care which) an...

Re: How many miles do you expect out of your PCX?
That's what I'm hoping with the scooter: just replace the basics and hope to reach a certain number of miles (whatever that might be) and be happy. Like you said, what that number is anybody's guess. I'm not sure how much a new PCX engine is and how much I'd have to pay for labor, but if I had to d...

Maverick, here is how I imagine youyou. He gets off work after another relentless day of irritating people. With briefcase in hand strolls into the local pub on the way home to blow it off. After a stiff drink he gets out his laptop and clicks 'view new' Whatever comes to mind because people are so...

Re: Tucano Urbano Termoscud + 2013 turn signal Lollipops?
I thought that the climate in California rarely even made it down to freezing? I'm in the central coast, 65 miles south of San Francisco, and the microclimate of California State University Monterey Bay that I attend is foggy/cold. The mornings and evenings get quite cold in winter. That and it fee...
