Huh, a strap wrench..... interesting....

Do you think it would prop up against the ground as well as a variator holder tool? <ponders>

Re: 2015 PCX 150 top speed

Factory pics are probably better than what I could take myself I'm curious to see a good comparison to find out what the difference is. Especially the drive face which another brief comparison seemed to show that it had no difference from stock to look at them. I wonder if it milled down a little m...

Re: 2015 PCX 150 top speed

He just said you needed to get a feel for tightening it in order to avoid stripping the threads. Based on how it works, I would assume you only use it once or twice after it stops turning in order to tighten it. Yea,just tap 1sec the trigger couple of times and itll be fine. Dont try to exert force...

Re: 2015 PCX 150 top speed

I guess at least we can get the old one off. I am sure Scooterman has the answer for this. Can you take some photos of the old parts next to the new ones so we can try to see the differences? It's odd that the NCY drive face doesn't have the removal holes. Factory pics are probably better than what...

Re: 2015 PCX 150 top speed

I guess at least we can get the old one off. I am sure Scooterman has the answer for this. I'm guessing, from Sendler's post a few back, that I could use an impact wrench. But I've never used one in my life before, and worry about overtightening/stripping things. (I think Sendler said he used...

Re: 2015 PCX 150 top speed

Beer? Mechanical work is always more fun when you're not sober :D . :D Drats, I just realized.... while the stock drive face has those two holes suitable for receiving the prongs of the variator holder tool, the NCY replacement drive face has no such holes. Hmmm.... wondering how to grip it. The ra...

Re: 2015 PCX 150 top speed

Thanks to Sendler, who posted this link a few posts above, I ordered my NYC variator/drive face/roller set from this eBay seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/181327427488?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I placed the order less than 24 hours ago, yet the vendor has already...

Re: 2015 PCX 150 top speed

A swivel (universal) socket extension 1/4" with the 8mm socket and then a 6in or longer 1/4" extension bar. I peronally thought about drilling a hole long enough to feed the socket through the bodywork. On a black bike this would be no problem, but on a white one, would be a bit unsightly...

Re: 2015 PCX 150 top speed

Might as well wait and see how it works. It is only a 1/2 hour job to switch a vario from one to the other and see what it does on both machines. I sneak the bolts out of the cover without touching any of the bodywork. Sendler, what did you use to get the bolts out of the cover without removing the...

Just discovered this thread. Great to have the panel removal steps all detailed for someone who has never done it before -- thanks lots.

The screwdriver is in two parts and is reversible with plain at one end and phillips at the other.
Like the one in this picture.
 Clearly I am a mechanical genius.

Thanks gn2.

Center stand, all the time. Just force of habit: my first (and still most frequently ridden) scooters are wee Honda Metropolitans, which have no side stand. :)

Re: Brought the baby home

I believe no matter what it's junk with exception of the helmet hook extension. Little piece of cable looped at both ends with plastic binding it together that helps hook a second helmet under a locked seat. Oooohhhh, so THAT's what that thing is! I got one with each PCX -- each inhabiting its own ...

Re: Brought the baby home

Exploring under our new baby's under-seat compartment revealed a small ziploc bag containing two silver-colored washers and two black grommet-ish bits. Could some kind soul cast light on these mysterious items? Anybody? Both our 125 and our 150 came with these wee baggies of parts. And now that I c...

Re: Brought the baby home

Nothing better then having a pair of PCXs. My Husband and I have a blast with ours! :D Excellent! Glad to know that we're in good company. 8) Congratulations. The power picks up until it peaks at about 2000 miles. Rev limiter still kicks in about 68 mph. ......... The 2015 is about 3 mph slower. Go...

Brought the baby home

So today I brought home the newest baby: a new red 2013 PCX 150. :P Crouched down behind the stock windshield, on a downhill, I managed to hit 67 or 68 mph, at which point the rev limited kicked in. Was a bit earlier than I was expecting: for whatever reason (perhaps the PCX review on MotorScooterGu...

Re: 2015 PCX 150 top speed

You may want the holding tool for the variator so you can do everything by hand and torque the nut. But I just use an impact to zip the nut off and then just give it a few taps with the impact to tighten it back on but this takes some feel to keep from over tightening the nut and ripping the thread...
