Re: Kevlar Jeans - any good?

I do. On my bike too. I think they'd stop reasonably heavy gravel rash tbh Normal jeans offer absolutely no protection whatsoever Absolutely, the last thing on my list now is a pair or two of decent protective pants - probably one textile and one kevlar casual jeans. Will likely get full leathers f...

you you wrote:

They'll be more than adequate for a 125 twist and go.
Yeah, that is fine with me so long as I KNOW that they will at least stop my skin coming off if I slide at, say, 40 MPH - a lowside round a bend.
If they are that protective then it would be nice to wear them on casual trips.

Re: Motorcycle Helmets

Helmets get stolen. I would never think of leaving my Schuberth unlocked. I usually take it into the store with me but if I go somewhere on one of my bikes without locking storage, I use a bike cable lock through the arm of my jacket and through the chin of the helmet with the jacket covering the h...

Re: Motorcycle Helmets

Ah, right, I think there is no great way to avoid it as they are so large and we tend to carry then and place them in unsafe places. I imagine not many of us place it back in its nice carry bag as soon as we get off the bike :(

Re: Kevlar Jeans - any good?

Search for Hood jeans. They are excellent Yeahm, found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZc6fjf1_Eo and: http://www.hoodjeans.co.uk/acatalog/d3o-armour-motorcycle-jean.html - armour sounds good. If you dont have special armour then where about do kevlar jeans, on average, come in the ranking o...

Re: Motorcycle Helmets

Agh.. scrathed my helmets main visor... right in the bloody centre.
I have a modular flip up helmet and the visor often at the top of my head and I keep backing it accidently on cupboards, doors, the bike, etc..

It looks safe still - ish - but I might as well order a new one in from Lazer... :(

Re: Advice on Jacket/Trousers

Oh dear... spent an hour trying on different armoured textile trousers at the local motorbike superstore to no avail. Some had excellent features but I had a problem nearly all the time in two main areas: 1. The knee protector seemed too low.. like on the shin and when I sit on the bike (tested it o...

Re: Kevlar Jeans - any good?

Sounds like there is no point getting them if they do not offer the right protection.

I assume that they won't compete with cordura armoured textile trousers then?

Kevlar Jeans - any good?

Those of you who have been reading my latest posts will know that I have finally nailed a jacket down but still need everything else (got a helment of course..) I was doing some searches and will almost certainly be getting some textile armoured waterproof goretex cordura trousers combo setup BUT I ...

Re: Motorcycle Helmets

Its been cold and wet for the last few weeks in the UK.. The pinlock is really needed. I would say it is needed from October to April in the UK, on average, but it will stay in there all the time and replace as and when. Like most people, in the heat of summer, its nicer with the visor up anyway and...

Re: Motorcycle Helmets

Just wanted to say... How bloody great are those Pinlock screen covers!!! o_O When I got my helmet I knew it included this Pinlock thing to help avoid misting up. I put the helmet on for my first spin when I picked up the PCX from the dealer and it was fogging up really badly and I was thinking that...

Re: Advice on Jacket/Trousers

Ha.. No way I would wear my bike helmet on the slopes. It is bloody heavy and is still giving me neck ache as I am not used to it. I do have a great Ski Helmet, very comfy, probably not bad for a small motorcycle crash (I will give it to the missus - ha) . I do have an excellent Spyder ski jacket th...

Re: Advice on Jacket/Trousers

Aye that's a bargain given how much detail is in that jacket. Does anybody else here Ski? What are the ramifications of wearing the motorcycle clothing for skiing? As in, will it damage/harm the quality of the armour when one falls on hard snow? I have had some high speed tumbles and the idea of arm...

Re: ATGATT or Squidding: What do YOU ride with?

So the sweat has to go somewhere and within a multilayered jacket then basically it stays in the jacket. But you're saying that if you open up the vents even in the winter it will just enought to cool the body down, as even riding in the cold makes you sweat underneath. Case in point.. I have been s...

Re: Motorcycles - damn addictive aren't they!

I've been fortunate enough to own some fast cars over the past years including 2 Subaru WRX's, a VW Golf GTI , a VW Golf R32 3.2 litre v6 and currently a 2012 VW Golf R. The last time I was booked for speeding was when I first bought the GTI and was showing off to my wife :D That was 6 years ago, w...
