Re: how to winterize?

My winterize process for Georgia consists of getting my insulated pants and warm gloves out of the closet. Really, there's not much else to do if you just take a 30+ minute ride on any weekend where the temp is over 40F. Those weekends happen often enough for us, it's not like we're going to store t...

Re: 140/70-13 Tyres

I had Michelin Pilot Power Pure SC tires on my previous scooter, I like the idea of dual compound tires. Michelin doesn't make those in 140/70-13, but I can see them in 150/70-13 and 130/70-13. Anyone want to speak up on the suitability of using almost the right size?

Re: A few questions on cleaning

The paint is pretty much standard automotive paint, without a clearcoat. So treating the finish like a car is probably your best option. I use the same protective polish on my scooters that I use on my car, and it keeps the finish looking nice. (Given the lack of a clearcoat, it's probably more impo...

Re: 2014 honda forza

Guys, Quoting your insurance payment is an almost completely worthless exercise. Rates change based on dozens of factors, everything down to your zipcode makes a difference. Years ago, my vehicle insurance rates got cut in half when I moved a few miles down the road, because I was now in a 'safer' r...

Re: IIHS Study On ABS Brakes On Honda Scooter Motorcycles

I think sendler2112 is on the right path: it's about demographics, not bike design. An ABS Silverwing is very likely to be a long-distance touring bike, so it's far more likely to be caught in bad weather in the middle of a ride. There's also some psychology working here, a person who paid extra for...

Re: NSS300 Fuel Pump problems

You guys are just reinforcing my point. In the US, non-ABS is common, ABS is hard to find. In the rest of the world, non-ABS is hard to find, ABS is common.

Re: NSS300 Fuel Pump problems

Until we can confirm that any non-ABS Forza has had a pump failure, I think those Forza owners can breathe a sigh of relief and carry on. I thought ABS was pretty much standard everywhere except the US? That means that the majority of scooters sold would be ABS, and thus having mostly ABS failures ...

Re: Windshield Question New Member!

I'm wondering if the Givi airflow shield is taller then the fixed Givi tall shield? I've got the Airflow, but don't have a fixed Givi to compare against. However, I'm pretty confident that the Airflow will do a better job of directing air above your head than an identically sized simple shield. Whe...

Re: Anyone been in here?

Thanks for the detailed information and pics, BRed. I didn't remove the seat at the time because I couldn't find a thin enough wrench to fit the narrow joint bolt on the opener damper. The seat damper has a ball and socket joint, and you can just pop the ball out of the socket with a little pressure...

Re: Alternator Question

I looked in the service manual (which I don't have with me a the moment), and seem to recall seeing it had a 300w total capacity. However, that doesn't tell you much, since we don't know how much of that wattage is already consumed by existing bike components. I vaguely recall that the old Reflex (p...

Re: New Forza owner from S.E. USA saying hello.

Having fuel injection means that there is a computer on board that knows almost exactly how much fuel is being used at any moment, so the MPG meter can be very accurate. Honda seems to like the idea of having a full gallon of 'reserve' fuel, below the E mark. But that just doesn't quite make sense w...

Re: New Forza owner from S.E. USA saying hello.

Your gas gauge isn't defective, it's just a poor design. You have almost a full gallon above F, and a full gallon below E. Only the middle gallon of your tank will show up on the fuel gauge. Your best bet is to reset trip 'A' every time you fill the tank, and use the trip meter plus the average MPG ...

Re: Screen comparisons

Look at the Givi AirFlow screen, it's adjustable to a wide range of driver heights and positions. I have it and love it. Even at it's lowest position, it does a much better job of managing the airflow around your head than the Honda tall screen.

Ouch, sorry to hear about the fall. Hope the damage is just cosmetic, and not to you.

I've found http://www.bikebandit.com/ to be a good source of replacement parts, and they have the full parts diagrams so you can pick out exactly what you need.

Re: Battery question

A week should be nothing for a battery that is in good health. A month shouldn't be a big deal either, our battery should be powering nothing but the clock. However, add in some extreme cold, or extreme heat, and maybe go two months instead of one, and now you're asking for trouble. MichRocks is exa...

Re: traded in my PCX

The tank is 3 gallons. On the fuel gauge, the first gallon is entirely above the Full mark, the second gallon is between Full and Empty, and the third gallon is entirely below Empty. So the needle only shows the middle 1/3rd of your tank. As gn2 suggests, using the average mpg display plus a trip me...

If you want a Givi (or Kappa) MonoLock case, get the SR1123 MonoLock rack (or KR1124 MonoLock rack). Installation of the rack is easy (~10 minutes for me), and then any MonoLock case will easily attach in seconds. To install, you remove one cover piece on the rear spoiler, and then 4 bolts with spac...

Our headlights are a HS1, which is really a wattage-reduced form of H4. To keep 35w bulbs, search for HS1. The Osram Silverstar is probably the best choice, it's supposed to be a bit brighter than the standard. (Ignore PIAA bulbs, they are crap) If you are willing to push your alternator a bit, go H...

Search for "Plasti Dip clear" and you'll find what you're thinking of. And it comes in a spray can, easy enough to remove the plastic piece and then apply.
