to me i'd rather reduce weight getting the rpms to speed and being able to hold the throttle in position to keep me going. i understand the idea of making things heavier to keep the objects momentum going, but this just sounds crazy.

if it's a flywheel, this is adding weight and also that the bike is a CVT type system when the bike drops in RPM the belt changes slowing the bike down. The best test is to use a sharpe and mark the variator faces to see where and how high the belt is riding.

You think it's the rollers bouncing around? Centrifugal force should push them to the outer edge of the variator no matter what.
