A fond farewell to the PCX

Well, it finally happened! Passed my Mod1 and Mod2 motorcycle tests and I'm now the proud owner of a CBR250R :D So it's a fond farewell to my beloved PCX125 which I've been commuting to work on for the past 18 months, with absolutely no problems whatsoever. Did my training and tests on a CB650F, wit...

Re: bridgestone battlax...

Had one of these Battlax SC's fitted on the rear. The IRC original had done just under 7000 miles and had a bit of life left, but I took the opportunity while the wheel was out to stick some rim tape on, strip the brake and grease the pivots and de-glaze the braking surfaces. Took the wheel into the...

Re: Motorcycles - damn addictive aren't they!

Hi PCXade :) Seems like you're having a mid-life crisis like me! :D I was well into road cycling, especially Audaxing and did a Super Randonneur in 2013 (200km, 300km, 400km & 600km rides in one year). I got a PCX in October 2013 and did my CBT on a geared bike, because we were down to one car a...

Re: Have you had the clutch bearing failure yet?

Hi all Just pulled the variator and clutch off for an inspection as it was making a "rattle" noise on the over-run at between 10 & 20 mph. The bearings 18 & 19 in the diagram looked good but no.19 had hardly any grease in it at all, couldn't tell if it was like it from new or the g...

Variator and Clutch nut torque specs.

Hi all Going to strip down the transmission and check it over at the weekend, after I finally got round to making a tool to hold the variator and clutch bell. But what I really would like to know is the torque specs for the nuts holding the clutch and variator. There seems to be some really clever b...

Translation for those of us not British.

Ally = Aluminum, or Aluminium

Swarf = fine chips or filings of stone, metal, or other material produced by a machining operation.
That's exactly what I meant :D

7 months of PCX'ing

Hi all Just finished doing the valve clearances, oil change and check the belt. With 4080 miles on the clock the belt is still 22mm wide, the valves were tight by 0.05mm each and the oil was a bit black with two tiny bits of ally swarf in the filter. Refilled with 5w30 synthetic oil. Started commuti...

Re: How-To: Valve Adjustment for Honda PCX

Great how-to guide! Just followed it to do mine, 4080 miles on the clock, both clearances were 0.05mm under spec. Lots of fiddling to get the plastic off, but took my time with a plastic tyre lever to persuade the stubborn bits ;) Little smear of Pro Seal Black Silicone Instant Gasket and the jobs a...

Two good ideas so far, cheers :)

I see from your pic Chucktuna that with the lower body panels removed, there is a frame tube that could be supported with an axle stand?

Supporting scoot while removing front wheel

Hi all
Quick question, what's the best way to support the PCX to enable the front wheel to be removed, considering the belly-pan is plastic and may crumple if placed on blocks?

Cheers :)
