Re: Yes yes yes!Almost new driver!

What is done in the first service apart from changing oil?
I've done about 300km and 1st service is at 1000km.
I'm eager to change the oil and then stop nursing it.

Re: Gears for higher top speed

However try sliders in the takegawa variator for a real benefit. That will surely make full use of the pulley diameter. I'm not expecting more than 7% increase but I'll figure out the actual increase when I open the CVT to fit my sliders. Someone on this forum (maybe even you?) had problems with sl...

I would think the lean makes it less serious than having an over-sized tyre on a car.
Is it possible to move the outer surface of the tyre side to side while the wheel is stationary?

Re: PCX150 speedo accuracy?

Mine over reads by 10%.
This is a good thread because there seems to be quite a wide range of inaccuracy from scoot to scoot.

Please would you also write an entry here: http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1982

Re: Gears for higher top speed

This thread started out as question regarding ways to increase the gearing. I put forward to gear options: Kitaco and Yuminashi. Dasshreddar suggested larger tyres which is a nice idea but concerns have been expressed elsewhere: http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=680&p=28336#p28239 ...

Re: Gears for higher top speed

Thanks for the photos and for making this an informative thread. I understand what you are saying. But to my mind, sliders achieve the same thing. Ultimately the gearing will be limited by the diameter of the pulley hence my earlier statement. Sendler explained it quite well here: http://www.hondapc...

Re: Wider Tires

I'm going to speak authoritatively on this as a motorcycle mechanic and having owned over 25 motorcycles...DON'T put a 140mm tire on the rear of your PCX or a significantly wider front tire. The rim width is too narrow and will adversly affect (dangerously) the profile of the tire. It's not safe. I...

Re: Takegawa Variator (how to install an aftermarket variato

Maddiedog, what was your rev limited top speed before and after fitting the Takegawa variator? I read 69mph (after) which is slightly less than my stock PCX150. Not sure the top speed of stock PCX125. Your speedo might be off. My stock USA PCX150 never beat 68 when it was new, then started to dip d...

Re: Gears for higher top speed

They look the same diameter to me, meaning you could achieve the same thing with stock variator and (possibly shaved) sliders.

Re: Gears for higher top speed

The takegawa variator is cheaper than the yuminashi gears and, if I understand you correctly, will achieve the same thing (13% improved top speed).
The takegawa variator would have to be a larger diameter than the stock variator if this is the case.

Re: Gears for higher top speed

Wingz there is power to go faster, it's just a matter of faster with the ability to hold speed up hills that becomes an issue. I'm just trying to help you see that a variator is a much better option than the gear kit. The stock variator limits you to 68 mph before your weights are bouncing around. ...

Re: Gears for higher top speed

It's all relative guess. I'm not looking for more power. If there is enough power to hit the rev limiter, then surely there is enough power to go faster. After all, peak power is well below redline. After installing the gear kit, it would run close to peak power at the speed at which it currently re...

Re: Gears for higher top speed

Wingz, I conversed back and forth with Yuminashi with the same idea in mind. I was told that with my 150 unless I had a 31mm throttle body or big bore kit I would not be happy with the results. Thank you. Did they explain why you would not be happy with the result? I'm only looking to operate close...

Re: Gears for higher top speed

I would say a tire change is easier to do than a gear change. ;) Of course. Unfortunately the 140/70-14 will only provide 3% increase in final ratio. You don't actually need to replace the speed sensor, just modify it. Pcxdemon knows about this. Makes sense. I'll have to reassess after installing t...
